Genesis is now a three-sedan luxury brand in a world voracious for SUVs. The long-awaited 2019 Genesis G70, an entry-level sport sedan sharing its platform and powertrains with the arguably more compelling 2018 Kia Stinger, debuted overnight in Seoul at a “festival” attended by 15,000 people and headlined by Gwen Stefani.
Performance means different things to different people. When it comes to vehicles, the concept commonly refers to superior driving dynamics on a paved road or track. This makes it easy to forget that trucks and SUVs that can scramble across unimproved terrain equally deserve inclusion in the pantheon of performance vehicles.
Genesis revealed its luxury compact 2019 G70 sedan in Seoul this week, and I had a front row seat for the festivities. Following introductions of an array of executives with exotic names and luxury-brand pedigrees (Bentley, Lamborghini, Mercedes are all mentioned in the intros), the BMW 3 Series fighter was unveiled.
