Bentley will run a Bentayga SUV up the legendary Pikes Peak hill

On the heels of announcing an eight-cylinder version of its luxury SUV, Bentley now says it plans to race a W12-powered Bentayga at this year’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The 12.42-mile circuit has 156 corners that should push the heavy Bentayga to its limits, but the 600 hp from the W12 might make it quick enough to surprise some folks.

Bentley hasn’t announced who is going to wheel this Bentayga up the hill, if there will be any modifications to the big ‘ute…or anything else about its run yet, but it’ll be interesting to see what the Bentayga can do at Pikes Peak.

The Bentayga’s all-wheel-drive grip might have helped when the Pikes Peak circuit sported some dirt, but it won’t be as big an advantage in the all-asphalt era.

We’ll have to wait until we get closer to  June 24, 2018, for the 96th running of Pikes Peak to get more details from Bentley, but these pictures from last year might tide you over.
